Chennai: The customs officials at the Chennai airport on Sunday seized foreign currencies worth 97.46 lakh from a passenger bound for Sharjah
The accused, H Wasim Akram of Nagapattinam, who was bound for Sharjah, was intercepted at the check-in counter at the international terminal. Customs officials asked him to move aside and scanned his baggage. While it looked like a regular backpack, the officials found that the bag had a concealed cavity in which bundles of Saudi Riyals and Emirati Dirhams had been hidden.
