Chennai: A fire broke out at an electronic components manufacturing unit in the Vallam SIPCOT industrial estate near Sriperumbudur in Kancheepuram district on Saturday, damaging goods stored in a warehouse. All 300 workers on duty were evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported.
The fire occurred at Venus System Energy, a company engaged in the manufacture of spare parts for electronic products, including televisions. According to officials, the blaze originated in the company’s storage warehouse.
Workers noticed the fire and alerted management, following which all employees inside the facility were evacuated as a precautionary measure. The flames spread through the warehouse and damaged finished products and other materials stored on the premises.
Fire and Rescue Services personnel from Sriperumbudur, Padappai and Oragadam rushed to the factory to put out the fire.
