Chennai: As part of the ongoing appointments of law officers to represent the new TVK govt in courts, Sekar Durai, joint director of prosecution, has been named as the director-in-charge.
He succeeds the director of prosecution, G Krishnaraja. A GO from home (courts VI) department dated May 29 terminated the services of Krishnaraja as the director of prosecution with immediate effect. It did not attribute any reason for the termination. The prosecution director is the head of the state’s prosecuting machinery, responsible for overseeing criminal cases, managing public prosecutors, and ensuring fair and impartial trials. They evaluate investigation reports, advise the police, and make decisions on filing appeals or revisions in higher courts. Krishnaraja had been prosecution director since Nov 2024.
