Ex-IRS official spl observer for election

Chennai: Election Commission of India (ECI) appointed retired IRS official Pratap Singh, former DG (investigation) Income Tax for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, as special observer to oversee the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) in Tamil Nadu and monitor preparedness for the Assembly election.Pratap Singh was tasked with ensuring that SIR of electoral rolls is carried out strictly in accordance with the commission's directions issued from time to time. The officer will be required to visit Tamil Nadu periodically to assess progress of roll revision, review poll preparedness and observe arrangements for the 2026 assembly election, and submit inputs to the commission for necessary action.
