Counselling for engineering admissions in Tamil Nadu started on Sunday, with the Anna University conducting the single-window counselling for candidates eligible under the sports quota.
Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) secretary Rhymend Uthariaraj said a total of 1,000 candidates were invited for the counselling held between 10.30am and 7.30pm at the Anna University.
“A total of 385 seats out of the 500 allocated for sports quota candidates were filled,” said Rhymend.
The remaining 115 seats will be filled in the second phase of counselling, for which candidates will be called after the counselling for academic candidates is over on July 31. On Monday, TNEA will conduct counselling for candidates under the vocational and differently abled category. It will complete on Tuesday evening, and the counselling for the academic category candidates will begin on July 1.
A total of 2.1 lakh seats will be available for admission into various undergraduate programmes of engineering in 538 government, government-aided and self-financing institutions affiliated to Anna University.
