"Rajesh, 35, a native of Arakkonam, who was sleeping in one of the autorickshaws, died on the spot," an investigating officer, adding that Naveeth and one of his friends, N Harikrishnan, 21, tested positive for alcohol.

The accident was disconcertingly similar to another crash 14 months earlier, when racer Vikas Vijayanand, 22, at the wheel of a Porsche, hit several parked autorickshaws at the same spot on September 19, 2016, leaving one driver dead and injuring six.
