CHENNAI: The DMK has revoked the suspension of seven functionaries, including two town secretaries and five union secretaries, following explanations submitted by them.
"The suspension order issued on June 21 had sought an explanation from the functionaries believed to be involved in anti-party activities. Based on their explanation, the leadership has decided to allow them to continue their work for the party in the same positions," general secretary K Anbazhagan said in an announcement in the party organ ?Murasoli'.
In another announcement, the party said it has appointed Thadangam P Subramaniam as Dharmapuri district in-charge. The south and north district units of Dharmapuri have been merged as one unit, it said. The appointment of Subramaniam indicates that former minister V Mullaivendan, one of the suspended leaders, would be sidelined. DMK suspended 33 leaders, including former Union minister S S Palanimanickam and Rajya Sabha MP K P Ramalingam, a close confidante of M K Alagiri, from party posts for "dereliction of duty" during the recent Lok Sabha polls. tnn
There was no announcement from the party about others who are under suspension.
Meanwhile, DMK Treasurer MK Stalin on Wednesday left for London on a personal visit. He is accompanied by his son-in-law Sabarish and two others.
