DMK invites allies to Kancheepuram meet

Chennai: At a time when there was criticism from opposition parties that the DMK-led alliance in the state was "coming apart", DMK on Wednesday announced that a public meeting would be held in Kancheeepuram on Sept 28 to mark the party's diamond jubilee, in which leaders of all the alliance parties would participate.

According to a statement from DMK headquarters, the public meeting would be held at the Panchaiyappa's College for Men in Kancheepuram in which 20 leaders of various DMK alliance parties would deliver their address.

The leaders, who had consented to participate in the meeting, include DK president K Veeramani, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K Selvaperunthagai, MNM president Kamal Haasan, VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan, MDMK founder Vaiko, CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan, and CPI state secretary R Mutharasan. Earlier, CM held talks with the senior party functionaries at DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam about the meeting.
