Cyclone Michaung News Live: Residents grappled with stagnant water and power disruption in parts of Chennai and its suburbs on Wednesday, two days after Cyclone Michaung wreaked havoc in the metropolis and neighbouring districts, even as civic agency personnel stepped up relief and rehabilitation efforts. The government said power was kept suspended in some areas as a preventive measure since the power cables were under water, while asserting all efforts were being taken to restore normalcy. Another day's holiday was declared for schools and colleges in Chennai on December 7. The cyclone-triggered heavy rainfall had led to inundation in localities including Velachery and Tambaram. On Wednesday too, people were seen leaving their homes in the areas surrounded with water to safer zones, carrying their children and wading through the stagnant water. It is a very sad state of affairs in Chennai because of heavy rains, it has flooded Chennai. The State Government and Municipal Corporation have done their work. There is a lot of inconvenience to the public...I have demanded in the Parliament that we should discuss in the Lok Sabha, the cyclone's effect in Chennai...The Government of India and the ministers must reply what action the Centre has taken to help the states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Cyclone Michaung landfall between Nellore and Machilipatnam

Most low-lying areas in Tirupati and Nellore were flooded, and people were evacuated from the water-logged areas. Authorities have also declared a holiday for schools in many parts of the state. The wind, which was gaining in speed with each passing hour, uprooted trees and caused damage to standing crops in the south coastal districts.

Cyclone Michaung News: Restriction on two-wheelers on ghat roads in Tirupati
In view of cyclone-induced downpour coupled with foggy climate, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has restricted plying of two-wheelers on ghat roads. The two-wheelers will be allowed only between 6am and 8pm till the weather conditions return to normalcy. TTD JEO Veerabrahmam inspected the ghat roads along with officials concerned on Monday evening and gave suggestions to the officials to arrange emergency measures for the convenience of devotees. TTD appealed to devotees to take note of restrictions and cooperate with the management.

District collector Raja Babu monitored relief activities and the evacuation of fishermen from the villages.
