Cyclone Fengal: Chennai rain may continue till Dec 1

CHENNAI: The weather system over the Bay of Bengal is yet to develop into a cyclone. This has extended rain activity over Chennai till Dec 1.

Chennai will get heavy rainfall (orange alert) on Nov 28 and Dec 1 and heavy to very heavy (yellow alert) on Nov 29 and 30.

Cyclone Fengal may form during the next 12 hours and move north-northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu coast during the subsequent two days.

On Nov 28, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet, Villupuram and Cuddalore districts and Puducherry may get heavy to very heavy rainfall (orange alert). Some places in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai and Karaikal may receive heavy rainfall.

On Nov 29, Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet and Ranipet districts may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall in some places while Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Cuddalore districts and Puducherry may receive heavy rainfall.

On Nov 30, Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet and Ranipet districts may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places. Vellore, Tiruvannamalai and Villupuram districts and Puducherry may receive heavy rainfall.

On Dec 1, Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet and Ranipet districts may receive heavy rainfall.

On Dec 2, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Vellore, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri and Ranipet districts may receive heavy spells.
