Chennai: A city sessions court on Friday denied bail to a man who stabbed a govt doctor attached to Kalaignar Centenary Super-Specialty Hospital, allegedly dissatisfied with the treatment his mother was receiving. Principal Sessions Judge S Karthikeyan dismissed the bail application of M Vignesh in view of strong opposition from the prosecution.
On Nov 14, Dr Balaji Jaganathan was attacked by Vignesh, who was caught by hospital staff while attempting to flee. The automobile engineering diploma-holder was later remanded in judicial custody.
According to the prosecution, his mother, Prema Manoharan, was an advanced-stage cancer patient who received six rounds of chemotherapy and palliative care at the hospital. Her condition worsened at home three days ago.
