Cop hit by truck at signal, dies

Chennai: A 26-year-old policeman died after a lorry hit him from behind when he was waiting on his bike at the traffic signal in Maduravoyal. Posted at Tambaram police commissioner's office he was returning from work on Monday. Jainul Abu Backer, a native of Devakottai, stayed in a rented house in T P Chathiram. A badly injured Jainul was rushed to a private hospital in Ayanambakkam where he died. Police registered a case against the lorry driver who abandoned the vehicle and escaped after the accident.
