Coimbatore toilet contractor fined for fleecing users

CHENNAI: Coimbatore Corporation officials on Monday imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on a toilet contractor for fleecing users. The contractor was collecting Rs 5 from users instead of the permitted amount of Re 1.
Corporation commissioner Raja Gopal Sunkara, who inspected a toilet located near Gandhipuram Town Bus Terminal, found the discrepancy and instructed his officials to initiate action.

The commissioner visited the Gandhipuram Bus Terminal to check the bus terminal building. Recently, a patch from the ceiling of the passenger waiting area fell down, injuring a couple of people.
Earlier, the commissioner inspected the sanitary inspector office in ward 74 and checked the attendance of workers. He insisted sanitary workers to check houses and ask residents to maintain cleanliness to prevent water stagnation.
