City police seize 960kg of gutka, tobacco

CHENNAI: At least 960kg of gutka and tobacco products were seized by police recently. They conducted weekly inspections of shops as per the orders of the state director general of policeand seized tobacco products besides 118kg of cool lip sachets near schools and colleges.

They registered 960 cases and arrested 971 people for selling these banned products. Tamil Nadu has banned the manufacture, storage, and sale of gutka and pan masala.
