Tamil Nadu Weather Highlights: IMD upgrades alert to 'orange' for Chennai and neighbouring districts, several flights delayed
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet, and 18 other districts on Thursday due to a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. An orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain is in place for Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, and Pudukottai districts. Chennai and its suburbs are expected to receive moderate to intense rainfall with thunderstorms, while rainfall activity will ease across Tamil Nadu after December 13.
