CHENNAI: Battle of the Buffet (BoB) is Chennai's largest annual fundraising event and a year-long capacity building programme that helps growing NGOs across Tamil Nadu raise funds. It is one of the events organised during Daan Utsav, India's festival of giving also known as Joy of Giving week, celebrated across the country every year from October 2 to 8.
In the last decade, BoB has raised over Rs 27 crore and helped more than 450 NGOs supporting a myriad of causes in health, education, women’s empowerment among many others.
This year, there are 82 NGOs participating in the event, says a spokesperson for United Way Chennai, which is among the organisers.
To commemorate the end of the fundraising and beginning of a new disbursement programme, there will also be a charity musical gala and entertainment dinner in the 'Joy of Giving' week.
This year, the event boasts of big names like Alexander Babu, the famous standup-comic and
Srinivas, the iconic voice behind Padaiyappa's 'Minsara Poove'. The event will also feature a sumptuous spread from reputed restaurateurs across the city.
