Chennai: Teen takes selfie atop train, injured

CHENNAI: An 18-year-old boy, the son of a railway employee, was seriously injured after he attempted to take a selfie atop an express train at the

new terminal in Tambaram

railway station on Saturday.

Police said Dileepan was celebrating his birthday with his friends when he stood atop a train and took a selfie. He was uploading it to a social networking site when he received an electric shock after he came in contact with an overhead high tension wire.People in the railway station panicked on seeing the youngster being flung off, and alerted police.

Police said a railway police personnel had cautioned the youngsters and had even shooed them away when he found them

loitering in the railway station

. Dileepan's friends had also cautioned him against standing atop the train, but he had not paid heed, police said.

His friends rushed him to a

private hospital

and later to

Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital

where he is being treated.
