VILLUPURAM

: K Mohammed Shakul Hameed, a 23-year-old engineering graduate who had earlier built applications and gadgets for

women safety

and designed devices to report road accidents, has been awarded the best achiever award by a Chennai-based organization, Kalam's World Records, for his latest creation, 'unmanned vehicle

robot

', which can deliver food and medicine to patients admitted at Covid isolation wards.

When contacted, Mohammed said, "I had completed my engineering in electronics and communication in 2019 from

Mailam Engineering College

in Villupuram. I had participated in various national and international exhibitions and bagged several awards and prizes. Among them, my recent design of a wrist band with GPS tracking facility to ensure safety of women and children and an application on cars to immediately alert and report road accidents, had been widely appreciated by my teachers and family members," he said. Talking about his robot, Mohammed said, "The robot has a camera fixed inside and can deliver food and medicine up to 4kg. It cost me just 2,000 to design a prototype." As a test run, a prototype of this robot is being used at the neonatal ward at a private hospital for the past four days.
