CHENNAI: A man was arrested for giving fake cheques to buy home appliances, including computers, worth 1.50 lakh in Tiruvallur on Wednesday. A hunt is on for two of his associates who are absconding.
On suspecting the trio who came to his shop, a showroom owner informed his friends and they came for his help. The fraudsters tried to run away seeing them.
But the group of traders managed to nab one of them, who was identified as Jagannathan. Police have launched a hunt for two others.
Investigation revealed that Jagannathan and his associates have been targeting home appliances shops. They bought 72 ceiling fans submitting a fake cheque and also conned few more traders in Tiruvallur. The Tiruvallur police have registered a case. Jagannathan was sent to jail.
