230 housing projects under purview of TNRERA till May this year

CHENNAI: A total number of 230

housing projects

from across the state have been registered under the

Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority

(TNRERA). Of this,

47 projects have been registered in May.

Data available with the TNRERA's official portal said that a majority of the projects have been proposed in the suburbs of Chennai in

Kancheepuram

and Tiruvallur districts. A few of the registered projects are located in Coimbatore districts.

Ongoing housing projects with a minimum of eight units should be registered with the real estate regulatory authority as per rules. This apart, new residential layouts also come under the purview of the TNRERA. The Real Estate Act came into effect in Tamil Nadu after the state government had notified the

Tamil Nadu Real Estate

(Regulation and Development) Rules, 2017 on June 22, 2017. Last year, 280 realty projects were registered with the TNRERA.
