CHENNAI: Aerospace sector has emerged as a big focus area for the Tamil Nadu government with an aerospace hub spread over 300 acres coming up in Sriperumbudur.
Seven companies have already taken land in the area.
"Around 14 companies would be setting up operations in this hub. The USP of this hub would be an advanced computing design centre. The focus of the aerospace hub is SME (small and medium enterprises) which specialise in avionics and electronics.
Many such companies are located in Coimbatore and they supply to major carriers," C V Shankar, additional chief secretary to government, industries department, said.
He was speaking at the annual regional meet of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce Chennai on Thursday.
