CHANDIGARH: UT police booked a woman for neglecting and wrongfully confining her four-year-old daughter in a room of her house. Police registered a case on the recommendation of Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR).
The commission conducted an inquiry after receiving a complaint from the girl’s father and then recommended an FIR against her mother under relevant sections of the IPC and Juvenile Justice Act (JJ Act).

No arrest has been made in the case so far.
After an inquiry, the commission found that the girl had been confined alone inside the house in Sector 29 in August, 2021. The commission recommended that the case be sent to the UT SSP for investigation. On the recommendation of the CCPCR, Industrial Area, Phase 1 police registered a case under relevant sections against the mother of the girl.
