Ambala: A man was killed on Tuesday after the truck tank he was welding exploded, throwing him off balance and to the ground from the top of the tanker.
The incident took place at a workshop on the Ambala-Chandigarh highway in Baldev Nagar of Ambala.

Lakhwinder Singh alias Lucky, a resident of Rani Majra in Handesra, worked as a mechanic and welder. Sources said Lakhwinder was welding the tank with his uncle, Gurcharan Singh. Police said the fuel tanker was empty when Lucky was welding it. Eyewitnesses said that after the incident, Lakhwinder fell from the top of the tanker. Soon after the incident, people saw fire and smoke coming out of the tanker.
Locals informed the police and called the fire service. On receiving the information, fire tenders reached the spot and doused the remaining flames. Police also reached the spot and inspected the area.
Lakhwinder was rushed to the civil hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. Baldev Nagar SHO confirmed the death and said the investigation is ongoing to ascertain the reason.
