Ferozepur: The counter-intelligence (CI) wing of Ferozepur police busted a cross-border arms racket with the arrest of a weapon supplier and seized five .30-bore Glock pistols and four live cartridges on Tuesday.The accused, identified as Lakhwinder Singh, a resident of Khehra Ke Uttar village in Ferozepur, has a criminal background and was released from jail a month ago. Police officials said preliminary investigation revealed that the weapons were allegedly smuggled into India through cross-border channels and were intended for further distribution through the network. A case under Section 25 of the Arms Act has been registered at Kulgarhi police station in the matter. Ferozepur CI assistant inspector general of police (AIG) Gursewak Singh said police received an input about Lakhwinder working as a weapon supplier in the region. "Acting swiftly, the police team of Ferozepur CI carried out an operation in the Kulgarhi area and arrested Lakhwinder."
