Wall demolition case: Khaira points out suspension of BDPO in another scandal
Jalandhar: Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Wednesday pointed out another scandal involving Block Development and Panchayat Officer Kulwinder Singh Randhawa, who ordered the demolition of a wall of his house, stating that he was placed under suspension in 2023 in connection with the embezzlement of Rs 60 lakh in Khanna. On Tuesday, Khaira pointed out that a case of corruption was registered against him by the Vigilance Bureau for the misappropriation of ₹40.85 lakh during his tenure as BDPO Amloh in August 2024.Khaira stated that the ₹60 lakh corruption scam was unearthed by none other than AAP minister Taranpreet Singh Sond. "It is shocking that an officer who was suspended on corruption charges by his own govt has been reinstated and continues to hold office in Kapurthala district," Khaira said. He questioned how a tainted and corrupt officer facing serious allegations of financial irregularities can be entrusted with public office and expected to render justice in administrative matters. He demanded the immediate transfer of the BDPO.

Khaira alleged that Randhawa illegally and unconstitutionally demolished a portion of his property under a quid pro quo arrangement. He alleged that chief minister Bhagwant Mann assured the officer that both pending corruption cases against him would be withdrawn if he carried out the demolition of Khaira's property. "This brazen misuse of power and vindictive action is nothing but political vendetta. The demolition was carried out without due process of law and in complete violation of constitutional safeguards," he said. Repeated calls and a message to BDPO Randhawa, on these allegations, remained unanswered. MSID: 128785488 413 |
