Vij fractures both feet in fall, likely to miss budget session

Ambala: Haryana transport and labour minister, Anil Vij, has been sidelined by injury just days before the state's budget session after a fall at his residence left him with fractures in both feet.The veteran politician and outspoken BJP leader is facing a period of strict bed rest, casting doubt on his participation in the upcoming legislative proceedings at a time when his fiery brand of politics is usually front and centre. The accident occurred on Saturday night at Vij's home in Ambala Cantonment. While the specific circumstances of the fall were not disclosed, medical evaluations confirmed minor fractures. The budget session is slated to begin on Feb 20 and without his presence, the treasury benches will lose one of their most seasoned debaters during the high-stakes budget deliberations. Sources close to the minister suggest it is "highly unlikely" he will attend the opening sittings, given the immobility caused by bilateral foot injuries. BJP member Om Prakash Dhankar called on Vij during the day.
