Undetonated grenade found outside BJP leader’s showroom in Punjab
CHANDIGARH: An undetonated grenade with its pin intact was recovered outside the showroom of a local BJP leader in Gurdaspur late Monday, prompting police to requisition a bomb disposal squad from Amritsar.An FIR was registered at Gurdaspur City police station under the Explosive Substances Act. Station House Officer Davinder Parkash said CCTV footage showed two motorcycle-borne suspects hurling the grenade towards the showroom at around 7:36 pm on Monday.The SHO said a garbage collector spotted the grenade lying outside a sanitaryware showroom on Geeta Bhawan Road and alerted the owner, Atal Sharma, a local BJP leader. Sharma then informed the police. A bomb disposal squad from Amritsar was called in to secure and defuse the explosive.Police said investigations are underway.
