Recently, a local court had turned down her anticipatory bail plea. Cops said Sonia, who works with a dental college in Derabassi, stated she had given the couple Rs 6.5 lakh for getting her admission into a MDS course in December 2008. They had promised me admission in JJM Medical College, Karnataka. However, neither the couple arranged for the seat nor returned the money, Sonia told police.
In the second case, Asha Sharma approached police with a complaint that she met the couple through a newspaper advertisement in 2005. The ad had stated that the two run a consultancy firm in Sector 34, Chandigarh. Joginder Sharma assured us that he would get an MBBS seat for our son in a medical college of Pondichery. He demanded Rs 28 lakh as five-years fee, Sharma told police. Laxmi Chand, investigating officer, said police was conducting raids in HP and Jammu to nab Sonu.
