CHANDIGARH: The metropolitan dream is getting grander. Now Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana have decided to promote the tricity as an IT destination together. This was stated in the meeting of IT secretaries of the three administrations here on Wednesday. Under the plan, IT companies would be facilitated to invest in the tricity in a united and coordinated manner.
As part of this strategy, the Chandigarh airport would be upgraded so that visitors, including CEOs and other employees of IT companies, may be provided better air connectivity to Chandigarh.
After the success of the 'E-revolution 2005' held in Chandigarh recently, it was decided to further expand the scope and to attract investment from more companies. The next E-revolution event would be held in July next year with full cooperation of the two states. Eminent speakers would be invited for the event for which the ground work would begin by February. A promotional event would be held in February to formally launch the preparations for the event. In the meeting it was also decided that human resource upgradation through programmes like 'Chandigarh - Training On Soft Skills (C-TOSS)' would be carried out by the two states in consultation with the department of information technology, UT, which had already implemented such programmes. Haryana has also started the C-TOSS programme recently.
