Tributes paid to Ambedkar in Punjab, HP; Sukhu unveils monument in Shimla
Chandigarh/Shimla/Amritsar: Tributes were paid to Dr B R Ambedkar across Punjab and Himachal Pradesh on his birth anniversary on Tuesday, with leaders and institutions recalling his legacy of equality and social justice.In Shimla, chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu paid floral tributes at Chaura Maidan and unveiled a monument titled "Architect of Equality". He described Ambedkar as a visionary statesman and social reformer who ensured equal rights through the Constitution and strengthened democratic values. Sukhu urged citizens to draw inspiration from his ideals to build an inclusive society.In Dhuri (Sangrur), leaders including Dalvir Singh Dhillon and Rajwant Singh Ghulli highlighted Ambedkar's vision of social justice and equality, calling for collective efforts to realise his ideals.In Amritsar, Guru Nanak Dev University's Dr B R Ambedkar Chair, along with the department of laws, announced a series of events including debates, poster-making and a Model UN to mark the occasion. BJP workers also paid tributes at Town Hall.
