More than 20% of the crimes that take place in Ahmedabad are 'repeat offences' committed by criminals who have perpetrated similar offences earlier. 
Bathinda: Police have arrested three youths who allegedly took to crime to make up for the losses they incurred in their small business. The youths, in their early 20s, from the border villages of Fazilka had started cloth trading about a year ago, said the police. With no prior experience, they ended up incurring losses and turned to snatchings to make money. Police arrested brothers Nirvair Singh and Talwinder Singh of Bandiwala village and Tarjinder Singh of Jandwala village. tnnFazilka senior superintendent of police (SSP) Narendra Bhargava said, "When the three failed in their small business, they planned to earn money by indulging in snatchings. They snatched Rs 2 lakh from a commission agent Des Raj at Shatirwala village on May 30 and purchased weapons for more such crimes.""On the night of June 16, the trio confronted Lovely Thukral and Sahil, owners of a chemist shop in Fazilka, and snatched a bag containing Rs 2.5 lakh. When Sahil tried to follow them, they fired at him which hit him in the abdomen. The incident though was recorded in the CCTV, the three could not be identified as they were wearing masks," he said.
