CHANDIGARH: A Class-XII student of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 33, was stabbed outside a coaching institute in Sector 27 on Wednesday evening.
Police identified the victim as 17-year-old Manmeet Singh, a resident of Sector 32. Police said Vishal Joshi, 25, allegedly stabbed Manmeet on his face and chest. Vishal is also a resident of Sector 32.
Cops said the victim had an altercation with Vishal a few days back. On Wednesday, when Manmeet left house no. 2203/1 in Sector 27 after attending his tuition, the accused allegedly stabbed him twice, leaving him bleeding.
SHO Sector-26 police station Sri Prakash said other students leaving the place raised alarm, following which neighbours and passersby gathered at the scene and nabbed the accused before he could flee. Vishal was handed over to police.
Cops added that the victim was rushed to GMH-16, where doctors said his condition was critical. Though police haven't yet ascertained the reason behind the crime, sources said the fight was over a girl. The accused has been arrested after a case was registered under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC against him.
