Shimla: Himachal Pradesh chief minister
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday launched a sharp attack on both the
BJP and the Trinamool Congress during his visit to Kolkata for the Congress' poll campaign, alleging that West Bengal has lagged in development under the
TMC regime and accusing it of fostering "syndicate rule."
Addressing a press conference, Sukhu said governance should go beyond slogans and focus on real development, asserting that the Congress ideology respects all religions and castes. He stressed that bringing Congress to power in West Bengal was essential to strengthen democracy and secure its future.

Highlighting the party's renewed push, he noted that Congress has fielded candidates on all 294 legislative assembly seats after two decades. He claimed that once in power, the party would accelerate development and ensure fair governance. Sukhu also accused the Centre of discriminating against West Bengal and weakening welfare schemes like MGNREGA, which he said has deprived lakhs of employment opportunities.
Crediting Congress leaders like Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh for visionary schemes, he alleged that the BJP has diluted their impact. He also criticised the handling of the Women's Reservation Bill, calling it politically motivated.
Referring to Himachal Pradesh, Sukhu said his govt has fulfilled its guarantees and is working towards self-reliance, while accusing the previous BJP regime of financial mismanagement and burdening the state's economy.
