State’s intelligence network completely failed: Jakhar
Chandigarh: Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar on Wednesday said, "The state's intelligence network completely failed, and the police are now limited to carrying out so-called encounters after incidents occur, merely to create an illusion of action and pacify public anger."Addressing a press conference, Jakhar said: "In the recent past, nearly 20 incidents of hand-grenade attacks took place in Punjab. This is the result of the nexus between rising gangsters, narcotics, and terrorism, but the state govt proved completely incapable of dealing with it."
He pointed out: "Earlier, Punjab witnessed the terror of AK-47s, now hand grenades became the new normal for the state. The impact of this fear and panic is borne by the common Punjabi, who constantly worries about the safety of life and property. Meanwhile, instead of deploying the police for public safety, they are being assigned to security duties for pre-wedding videography shoots of AAP leaders."The senior leader further said: "The fact that even senior Congress leaders are now writing letters to the central govt seeking improvement in the deteriorating law and order situation in the state clearly proves that, like the common people of Punjab and all other sections, the opposition Congress also accepted that the grave situation in the state can now be corrected only by the BJP under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah.""Punjab needs strong leadership that has the courage to take decisions and implement these. Only then can lawlessness be curbed, a safe environment be provided to the people, and the state be put back on the path of development," he said."Only the BJP can do this, and now it is in the hands of the people of Punjab to decide whether they want to live every day in fear of losing their lives or choose a peaceful Punjab based on social harmony," Jakhar added.Responding to another question, the senior leader said it was "completely laughable that the chief secretary and the DGP delivered speeches at the Moga rally and later tried to label it a govt programme".Citing the chief minister's social media from that day, Jakhar said: "The chief minister himself called it an Aam Aadmi Party rally. Then in what capacity did the state's top civil and police officers speak at that rally."MSID:: 128787837 413 |
