Hisar: A local court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering his 68-year-old father in a case dating back nearly five years. District and Sessions Judge Alka Malik convicted Sandeep, a resident of Satrod village, and also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
According to the prosecution, Sadar police registered a case on the complaint of Jaipal, a resident of Putthi Samain village and brother of the deceased, Wazir Singh.
In his statement, Jaipal said Wazir Singh had retired as a Class IV employee from Hisar Cantonment about eight years ago. Sandeep, the accused, was married but had frequent disputes with his wife, who eventually moved to her parental home. He worked as an auto-rickshaw driver.
On June 9, 2021, around 11 am, Jaipal received information about a foul smell coming from Wazir Singh's house. When he reached the spot with family members, he found his brother lying dead on a cot inside a room, with a head injury and bloodstains.
During the investigation, it emerged that Wazir Singh was allegedly killed by his son during a drunken altercation. After examining the evidence, the court found Sandeep guilty and awarded life imprisonment along with a fine.
