Hisar: The Sirsa police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his father by ramming a vehicle into him in Ahmedpur Darewala village of Dabwali subdivision in Sirsa district. The accused, identified as Ram Singh, was nabbed within 24 hours of the incident by a joint team of CIA staff Dabwali and Sadar Dabwali police station.
According to the police, a case was registered on Monday (April 6) following a complaint by Gurdas Singh, a resident of the same village. In his statement, he said he lived with his mother at his maternal grandfather Jaswant Singh's house. A dispute was ongoing between his maternal uncle Ram Singh and maternal grandfather Jaswant Singh over land purchased by his mother after selling her previous property.
The police said that on the night of April 5, Gurdas Singh, along with his maternal grandfather Jaswant Singh and uncle Gurvinder Singh, was heading towards Bijjuwali to irrigate fields when the accused allegedly came from behind in a jeep and hit Jaswant Singh.
The impact left the elderly man with severe injuries.The accused fled the spot along with the vehicle. Jaswant Singh was rushed to the civil hospital in Mandi Dabwali and later referred to AIIMS Bathinda, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered against Ram Singh under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Sadar Dabwali police station.
Police teams, acting on the directions of senior officers, inspected the crime scene, analysed CCTV footage and carried out technical investigations. The accused was apprehended on the basis of secret inputs, and the jeep used in the crime also has been recovered, the police said.
