CHANDIGARH: The weeklong nightmare is over for 18 members of a family from Maloya who returned to the city from Gobind Ghat in Uttarakhand on Saturday, but the trauma of witnessing the calamity has left them shocked. They are still reeling under the horror of watching houses crash like a pack of cards. Among the family members, only Jaspreet Kaur, 19, and Dilvinder Kaur, 18, were in a condition to talk. "It was raining throughout and I was unwell, so I had to be admitted in hospital.
We witnessed the death of around 300 people but could not do anything to help. When the flooded parking lot was drained, it had around 100 cars. Drivers had been sleeping inside many of the cars. They all died on the spot. We got proper food and medicine only after reaching Chandigarh," Jaspreet said.
