Sangrur MP called martyr ‘terrorist’, must say sorry: AAP

Chandigarh: Punjab unit of Aam Aadmi Party slammed Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president and Sangrur MP Simranjit Singh Mann for calling Bhagat Singh a “terrorist” and demanded an unconditional apology from him.
AAP announced that the state government would bestow martyr status on Bhagat Singh for his sacrifice and if required would initiate legal action against Simranjit, as per the law, for disrespecting the revolutionary and hurting the sentiments of Punjabis.“Our chief minister Bhagwant Mann, while an MP, had raised this issue several times in Parliament also. Bhagat Singh is our idol and I want to make it clear with full responsibility that the Punjab government will bestow martyr status to Bhagat Singh,” said minister for higher education Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, while addressing a press conference at Punjab Bhawan.
Terming the statement as shameful, he said that Simranjit disrespected the sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, who laid down his life for the independence of the country.
