Bathinda: To check the spot where illegal sand mining was alleged and two different cases were registered,
Bathinda senior superintendent of police (SSP) J Elenchezhian on Monday visited the farmland in Maur Charat Singh village of Maur sub-division in the presence of farm leaders. Accompanied by Maur sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) and officials from the mining department, Elenchezhian inspected the area and found that the field was uneven.
The police, three days ago, had registered two cases of mining after AAP’s Maur MLA, Sukhvir Singh Miserkhana, alleged illegal sand mining.
The AAP MLA had also complained that the miners tried to crush him. On his complaint, an SHO was suspended for not reaching the spot and not found present at the police station. The field belongs to farmer organisation BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) Bathinda district general secretary Harjinder Singh Baggi. tnn
