Saini hits the ‘hot seat’, ends 6-yr absence from Khapland
Jind: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini will descend on the political "hot seat" of Uchana on Wednesday, marking the first time in more than six years that a sitting CM has held a political rally in the influential Bangar region. The visit signals a major shift in the state's power dynamics following the rise of MLA Devender Chaturbhuj Atri, who upended decades of dynastic rule recently by defeating both the Chautala and Birender clans. With more than Rs 103 crore in infrastructure projects set for unveiling, the rally is being framed as the dawn of a "Developed Uchana" after years of perceived stagnation under coalition politics.
A Historic Political ResetFor more than six years, Uchana remained a neglected territory for CM-level announcements due to the complexities of the former JJP-BJP coalition govt. The political landscape was transformed when Atri, a BJP newcomer, secured a razor-thin 32-vote victory over Brijendra Singh — son of a former Union minister. Ending the drought, while social events have been held in the area, this is the first formal "Development Rally" since 2019. The rally proceeds despite ongoing litigation; Brijendra Singh has challenged the narrow election result in the Punjab and Haryana high court.Infra Blitz: Rs-103-Cr RoadmapDeputy commissioner Mohammad Imran Raza has confirmed that the CM will inaugurate or lay foundation stones for five major projects. The investment focuses on water security and public facilities. The completed projects to be inaugurated are Sudkain distributary (rehabilitation work costing Rs 22 crore to improve irrigation), a new multipurpose hall worth Rs 3 crore in Dumarkhan Kalan, and A water supply renovation worth Rs 2 crore at Sudkain Kalan. Foundation stones of the following projects will be laid: a second waterworks system for Naguran Village under the Mahagram Yojana (Rs 43 crore), and a new sewerage scheme for Chhattar village (Rs 30 crore). The Farmers' AgendaDespite the govt's project list, local agriculture remains the rally's focal point. MLA Atri has spent the week meeting with village sarpanches (heads) to compile a grassroots list of demands for the CM. "People are waiting to welcome CM Saini," Atri said. "One of the oldest demands is extending the water supply duration from Dhakal Kothi to the Rajwaha. Farmers are hopeful that under this leadership, these long-pending issues will be resolved, finally."Strategic ImportanceUchana is considered the heart of "Khapland", where traditional clan councils hold significant sway. By delivering a historic investment package, Saini aims to consolidate the BJP's hold on a region dominated traditionally by Jat-centric dynasties. MSID:: 128468913 413 |
