Shimla: Many parts of Himachal Pradesh received light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday, bringing relief from the soaring mercury.
It rained in parts of Kullu, Mandi, Lahaul Spiti, Bilaspur, Una, Kangra, Solan, Shimla and Sirmaur districts. The rain brought down the maximum temperature by several notches below the normal across the state.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, Una recorded the highest maximum temperature of 32.6℃, a drop of 4.2 degrees below normal. Shimla's maximum temperature dropped 5.4 degrees below normal to settle at 18℃. Manali recorded a maximum temperature of 20.8℃, a drop of 2.5 degrees.
Solan recorded a maximum of 20.5℃, which was 10.1 degrees below normal. Sundernagar's day temperature was recorded at 24.5℃, a drop of 8.5 degrees, and Bhuntar recorded a maximum of 24℃, 5.9 degrees below normal.
Dharamshala registered a maximum temperature of 27℃, 2.9 degrees below normal; Nahan 29.5℃, 3.5 degrees below normal; Kangra 29.4℃, 0.2 degrees below normal; and Kalpa 19.5℃, 0.1 degrees below normal.
The state has recorded 61.4 mm of rainfall so far this month, which is 2% above the normal of 60.4 mm.
The weather department has predicted light rain and snow in parts of the state till May 4.
