PATIALA: The stage has been set for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the prestigious University of Wisconsin, Parkside, the USA and Punjabi University, Patiala in the near future. The process was initiated with a delegation, led by Professor Abey Kuruvilla, executive director, International Affairs, University of Wisconsin, visiting Punjabi University for exploring the possibilities of collaboration and starting faculty and students exchange programmes here today.
Professor BS Ghuman welcomed the delegation and after taking a round of the University to have a glimpse of the most impressive infrastructure, details of academic programmes and a glance at the Punjabi University’s achievements, a meeting was held in the office of the Vice-Chancellor.
It was resolved during the discussion to start one-plus-one master’s degree programme; two-plus-two and three-plus-one undergraduate programmes jointly by both the universities. It was also decided to list the priority areas of joint research and short-term faculty exchange programmes, which will be mutually beneficial to both the Universities.
Final agreement (MoU) will be signed in January 2018, when Chancellor of University of Wisconsin will visit the Punjabi University. This arrangement has been facilitated by Directorate of International Students of Punjabi University.
