Shimla: Punjab Police's crime investigation agency (CIA), with support from Kullu Police, arrested eight persons, including alleged gangster Harpreet Singh, in Manikaran of Parvati Valley, Kullu district, on Friday.
The group had reached Manikaran on Thursday and was staying at a private hotel. Acting on a tip-off, Punjab Police tracked their movement and intercepted them while they were returning from Barshaini towards Manikaran. They were apprehended at Shilla, Kullu SP Madan Lal Kaushal said.
An FIR was registered against Harpreet Singh at Jandiala police station in Amritsar (Rural) on April 20 for attempt to murder and under the Arms Act for allegedly firing at a person's residence to intimidate him for extortion. Those arrested include Harpreet's associates Ram Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Satnam alias Sagar, Sikandar and Rajbinder, along with two women, Komal and Talwinder Kaur.
