Punjab Election Results 2024 Highlights: Congress wins 7 seats, AAP 3 and SAD 1

Punjab Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 Live: As the counting of votes ended, the Congress won the 7 seats, Aam Aadmi Party won the 3 seats and Shiromani Akali Dal won 1 seat. Out of 13 seats, 2 independents also won the seats. There was no sign of BJP in the Punjab lok sabha.

Till 8 pm, the Election Commission announced the results of the 13 Lok Sabha Constituency of the Punjab where Congress leaders' Charanjit Singh Channi, Amar Singh, and Gurjeet Singh Aujla won the elections. AAP also won 3 seats.


The tallying of ballots for the 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Punjab commenced across 117 counting locations.

The counting process will be supervised by a group of 64 counting observers, selected from the All India Services and Civil Services cadres of different states.

The 13 constituencies in Punjab went to polls in a single phase on June 01 during the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The results for these Lok Sabha constituencies are scheduled to be announced today.


The state having 13 constituencies holds substantial political significance and is witnessing a fierce battle between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)


The INC was the single largest party in Punjab, winning 08 out of 13 in 2019 Lok Sabha elections with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and BJP winning two seats each. AAP won one seat.


In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections SAD and BJP won four seats each and INC won 3 seats. AAP won two seats.


Punjab recorded around 62% voting turnout out of over 2.14 crore eligible electors in its 13 Lok Sabha constituencies on Saturday sealing the fate of 328 candidates, including 26 women, in fray amid reports of electronic voting machines (EVMs) malfunctioning and minor clashes at afew places in sweltering heat.


The exit poll for the Punjab Lok Sabha elections 2024 was announced on Saturday. According to exit poll predictions by Matrize, AAP will get 3-6 seats, SAD will get 1-4 seats, BJP will get 0-2 seats and Congress will get 0-3 seats.


The 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state are Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Khadoor Sahib, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Anandpur Sahib, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Firozpur, Bathinda, Sangrur, Patiala. Stay with TOI for the latest updates:

Punjab Election 2024 Live: Three-tier security deployed
Sibin C said that a comprehensive three-tier security system has been implemented around the counting centres. "Access to the counting centres has been strictly restricted, with only accredited individuals allowed entry," he added.


The counting centres are equipped with CCTV cameras for extensive monitoring. Additionally, Quick response teams are in place to manage any incidents promptly, ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.

Punjab Lok Sabha Election Live: EVM’s under high security
Former chief minister and BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao reiterated the party's dedication to Telangana and its citizens in the face of recent electoral failures, saying that the results would not change the party's goals. He declared that BRS would soon begin a new campaign with fresh tactics and objectives for Telangana.


"Results of elections may vary, but our responsibility remains to serve the people. In case you missed it, I have ceased using my walking stick and am now strong enough to start a new movement to defend the rights of Telangana people," he said on Sunday at Telangana Bhavan during the state's centenary celebrations. Punjab Lok Sabha Election Result 2024 Live: Counting at 17 centers
The counting of votes for the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab will begin at 117 counting centres at 8 am on Tuesday, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Punjab, Sibin C said.

A total of 64 counting observers, drawn from the All India Services and Civil Services cadres of various states, will oversee the counting process.

Punjab Election Results 2024 Live: UPA secured 8 seats in 2019
In the previous Lok Sabha elections of 2019, the INC-led UPA alliance secured eight seats with a vote share of 40.6 per cent, while the NDA managed to secure four with a voting percentage of 9.7. The AAP, making its debut, secured one seat.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and AAP bagged 4 seats each while Congress secured 3 seats. The BJP managed to secure only two seats.

Punjab Lok Sabha Election Result 2024 Live: Bathinda recorded highest voter turnout
The Chief Electoral Officer said that as per the data received late on June 1 night, Bathinda has recorded the highest voter turnout of 69.36 per cent.

Amritsar recorded 56.06 per cent, Anandpur Sahib 61.98 per cent, Faridkot 63.34 per cent, Fatehgarh Sahib 62.53 per cent, Ferozepur 67.02 per cent, Gurdaspur 66.67 per cent and Hoshiarpur 58.86 per cent.

Punjab Election Results 2024 Live: EC revises Punjab voter turnout figure to 62.80%
A voter turnout of 62.80 per cent has been recorded in the 13 Lok Sabha Constituencies in Punjab, which went to the polls on June 1 in the seventh and final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha election, said the state Chief Electoral Officer, Sibin C

It was the latest revised voter turnout from 55.65 per cent reported on Saturday. However, the revised figure is still lower than the 65.96 per cent voter turnout registered during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
