Punjab edu minister to unfurl Tricolour on R-Day in Mohali

Mohali: Punjab education minister Harjot Singh Bains would unfurl the national flag on the Republic Day at Shaheed Major Harminderpal Singh Government College, Mohali, said additional deputy commissioner (general) Viraj Shyamkarn Tidke. Taking stock of the preparations at the Government College, Mohali, he directed all departments involved in the district-level Republic Day Celebrations to deliver their duties diligently to make the event of national importance a great success.He said the advance rehearsals have begun on January 22 at the college. The full-dress rehearsal would be performed on January 24 in the presence of deputy commissioner Aashika Jain and SSP Sandeep Garg, he added. Tidke said that platoons of police, home guards and NCC volunteers would be a part of the R-Day parade. Students from various schools will take part in the PT show as well as cultural bonanza. He said tableau on the welfare and development schemes and exhibition stalls by various departments and self-help groups would also be exhibited.
