Mohali: Members of the Temporary Teachers Union, Punjab staged a protest on Friday to press pending demands and attempted to march towards Chandigarh. However, police stopped them at the Chandigarh border.
The teachers started their protest march from Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) office and planned to proceed towards Burail Jail Road in Chandigarh. Around noon, a large number of union members began marching towards the UT. On being stopped from entering the city, they staged a demonstration at the spot. DSP City-2 Harsimran Singh Bal tried to persuade the demonstrators to disperse, but they insisted on meeting the Punjab education minister.
Around 1:30pm, a delegation of teachers was allowed to meet him.

Following the meeting, union leaders said that the govt did not offer any concrete solution to their issues. Teacher Gurtej Singh from Bhiwanigarh said before coming to power, AAP promised that temporary teachers would be reinstated without conditions but failed on that front.
The union warned that if their demands were not addressed soon, the agitation would intensify in the coming days.
