Patiala: Former MP and senior leader Preneet Kaur on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing the "historic" Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, calling it a transformational step for women's empowerment.
Addressing a press conference in Patiala, along with the BJP women's team, Preneet Kaur said the Act would provide 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha, ensuring stronger representation of women in politics and greater participation in decision-making and law-making.
Highlighting the Centre's women-centric initiatives, she said under PM Modi's leadership, schemes such as PM Mudra Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Stand-Up India, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Lakhpati Didi, DAY-NRLM, and PM Awas Yojana significantly improved the social and economic empowerment of women across India.
Targeting the Punjab govt, she said that despite promising Rs 1,000 per month to every woman before the elections, the AAP govt failed to fulfil its commitment and diluted the scheme through restrictions and delays.
Preneet Kaur said the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam would mark the beginning of a new era of women-led governance and further strengthen women's role in shaping India's future.
