MOHALI: In a bid to woo migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, actor-turned-MP Manoj

Tiwari

campaigned in Mohali on Monday and urged them to vote for the saffron party. The party has fielded Sanjeev Vashisht, former president, Mohali Industries Association, from Mohali assembly seat.

Tiwari, the north-east Delhi MP, used a mixed dialect of Hindi and Bhojpuri to address the crowd. To strike a chord with the public, he even sang his famous songs, especially those related to Holi and urged people to vote for the BJP candidate in the upcoming assembly elections.

On issues of law and order and drugs, Tiwari said that law and order has completely failed in Punjab. He also said that the druge menace had destroyed several families across the state.

Addressing the gathering in Jagatpura and Balongi, Tiwari accused the Congress government in Punjab of discriminating against the poor, particularly migrants, even in ration distribution during the Covid lockdown. He alleged that the ration sent by the Centre was not distributed among the underprivileged or poor.

Tiwari claimed that the BJP is the only party working for public welfare. He also claimed that farmers in Punjab had nothing against the BJP and were supporting the party.

Slamming AAP's Delhi model, Tiwari said that the Delhi model had failed. Saying that Arvind Kejriwal was spreading lies about development in Delhi to mislead voters, Tiwari claimed that the elderly and disabled were not getting pension under the AAP regime in Delhi. He also alleged that most of the mohalla clinics in Delhi did not have medicines and remained closed during the Covid surge, when they were needed the most.
