Police to cremate four unclaimed bodies on Wednesday

PANCHKULA: Police will conduct the last rites of four victims, whose bodies have not identified so far, on Wednesday morning in Panchkula.Of the 34 bodies of Dera Sacha Sauda followers recovered so far, 30 have been identified and handed over to their family members after postmortem examinations.

Till Monday, 27 bodies had been identified by the cops while on Tuesday, three more deceased were identified as

Nimbo Prem Singh

and Krishan Lal, both from

Jind

, and Jagdish of Kaithal.

Panchkula assistant commissioner of police (law and order) Ajay Rana told TOI that family members of the deceased, who had been identified, had been called and their bodies had been handed over after autopsy.

Rana said, “Four bodies remain unidentified till now and we are at present keeping these in the hospital mortuary for identification. In case they are not identified, we will conduct the last rites on our own."

Due to shortage of space in Panchkula Sector 6 general hospital, a temporary mortuary has been set up on the third floor of its main building to keep the bodies of dera followers killed in August 25 violence.
