UCHANA KALAN/JIND: Police have booked five persons, including one by name, for attacking
Jannayak Janta Party
(JJP) leader
Dushyant Chautala on Wednesday. Dushyant, who contested the assembly election from Uchana Kalan constituency, had lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India and
Haryana police, alleging he was attacked during the poll day on October 21.
Following his complaint, police lodged an FIR in Uchana police station against BJP worker Sohan Lal and others for attacking Dushyant while he was visiting
Dumarkha village
on October 21. Dushyant alleged he found bogus voting at the behest of BJP leaders who hailed from the village, and when he raised his voice, the party supporters attacked him and threw a glass at him.
Former Union minister and Rajya Sabha member Birender Singh is a native of Dumarkha, and his wife Prem Lata Singh was the BJP candidate from Uchana constituency. Talking to TOI, Uchana deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Dalip Singh said, “We have received a police complaint from JJP candidate Dushyant that while he was at Dumarkha, a BJP supporter Sohan Lal attacked him after he alleged bogus voting and booth capturing. Acting on his complaint, we have registered a case under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC against all accused and started investigation.”
